Do you have to get a Master's Degree to be a forensic scientist?

-Bill W.

Good question Bill, thanks.  No, actually you do not need a Master's Degree to be a forensic scientist.  You are allowed to have one and it certainly wouldn't hurt if you did have one.  To be a technical leader (like a supervisor) in DNA Analysis, you are required to have a Master's Degree...but that is the only instance.  For much more information on education requirements and options, please check out the Forensic Science Resource Education section.

Are you really a forensic scientist and do you really answer questions from readers?

-Kim

First off Kim, thanks for your questions.  Secondly, yes I really am a forensic scientist (officially my title is Senior Criminalist).  And, lastly, I really do answer questions from readers - as my answers above actually answered this question.  Thanks again and keep the questions coming.
